Kelly Morrison Bio

As an award-winning singer/songwriter, Kelly Morrison has been in contention for an Academy Award, and won the Sammy Cahn Award for Best song in a film.  She has written songs for five movies starring James Garner, Abigail Breslin, Raquel Welch, Peter Fonda, Brian Dennehy and Louis Gossett Jr. Morrison has written and recorded over 50 songs which can be found on Spotify, Amazon, iTunes, you-tube and more.

She has long felt that music is her muse for painting and painting is her muse for writing music.

Morrison has studied painting under Cynthia Anne Brown (MA Doran Artist, http://www.cynthiaannebrown.com ) and her father, John Wayne Morrison (Taos Artist)

She has also taken online courses from Jane Davies, Carol Nelson and Nicholas Wilton. She has long admired the works of Mark Rothko, Gerhard Richter, and Willem deKooning

Morrison has worked in a variety of media, including photography, graphic arts, painting, and songwriting. Elements of each of these media find their home in her current work.

 

Morrison wrote the signature song Legacy for the 20th Century Fox movie The Ultimate Gift.  Legacy is featured on her CD entitled "Songs Inspired by: The Ultimate Gift" and on the movie soundtrack.  Other songs in the movie were written or recorded by Bob Dylan, WIllie Nelson, BB King and Aaron Copland.
